Natural Healing Remedies Are The Answers For Better Health

Natural healing remedies could be the answer to your various health problems. Many people are getting tired of the traditional methods for treating health. Are you one of them? If not, then maybe it is time for you to try something different for a change, and try one of the many natural health therapies that are available.

If you are needing a new way, this article might interest you. I am going to write about some of the natural health remedies my family and friends have tried in the past.

It is unusual to find a family or a person for that matter that does not have some lingering health problem, from being a little overweight to having a diagnosis of cancer. My friend is no different. She has had many health issues along with periods of depression. Being a fairly stressful person, she finds life to be very difficult at times.

A couple of years ago she decided to try a different direction and discovered the alternative healing treatment of reflexology. To begin with she was uncomfortable with a stranger playing with her feet, but after experiencing how calm and relaxed it made her feel, her opinion of reflexology changed. That is what happens when we get the courage to try something new and it turns out to be highly beneficial.

Trying natural healing methods of health treatment can definitely make you feel better. Another friend was struggling to cope with everyday life, and he turned to meditation. Not everyone can get into meditation, but it can make you more positive and think clearer. It may be difficult in the beginning, especially if your powers of concentration are not too good.

My mother does not like going to doctors and she chooses to go to a wellness center for women as her natural healing method to better her health. It must work for her because she has been going there for years. For one thing exercise has always been a recommended natural health way to lose weight and better your health.

Two more natural healing methods that many people are now doing are yoga and tai chi. Both are good at reducing stress levels and are not that hard to do. Neither are as hard on the body as strenuous weight training.

There are many different methods of alternative healing, and since people are all different, not everyone likes the same method. It might take some trial and error to find the right natural healing way for you.

I have another friend who was a smoker for many years because he had a hard time relaxing. He tried hypnotherapy as a way to quit smoking, and with his determination to quit and the hypnotherapy sessions he was successful. Hypnotherapy is a natural health technique many have used to successfully stop smoking.

There are many natural healing remedies that can give you better health if you are open to try them.

Natural Healing – Explained

The world of modern medicine is full of choice, and yet in an age of so called miracle drugs and contemporary therapies, many people are revaluating their options, and are considering joining the natural healing trend; but is this a new trend, and if so, where did it spring from?

The fact of the matter is that whilst the current trend is gathering pace, as more and more people are discovering the benefits of alternative medicine, it is not a new fashion. It is something that is as old as time itself, or at least as old the time since Homo sapiens have walked the planet the world over. The ancient Chinese developed natural healing on their continent, and in North America, the native indigenous Indian population developed their own brand of natural healing based on their understanding of the natural attributes of Mother Earth.

There are many forms of natural healing, but they all have the same common theme, and seek the same common end result; the restoration and maintenance of good health and well being, through an appropriate, well balanced, healthy diet; the existence of a gentle exercise regime, the abolition of stress, and the use of herbal remedies and natural therapies to counteract illness and disease.

Some natural healing techniques target certain specific problems, like acupuncture for example. Other forms of natural healing take a more holistic approach and are aimed at improving your overall health and well-being.

The genetic name that we give to cover all forms of natural healing is “alternative medicine”, and it encompasses everything from herbal remedies, to aromatherapy, acupuncture, meditation, and osteopathy. The term “alternative medicine” focuses your attention on the fact that is a practice in its own right, totally separate and different from conventional medicine. Instead of taking conventional prescribed drugs, (which can often have harmful side effects), alternative medicine brings to the table the option of taking a wholly natural medication or therapy, derived from Mother Nature; one that is safe and that has no harmful side effects. The various branches of alternative medicine include, but are not limited to:

• Homeopathy – the practice of using small watered down variants of the cause of an illness, which act in a way similar to helping the sufferer to build an immunity.

• Naturopathy – as the name intimates, this type of natural healing employs the body’s own defense and repair mechanisms, enhancing them to bring about the desired result. It utilizes diet, colonic irrigation, regular gentle exercise, etc.

• Acupuncture – the therapy that comprises of using long, thin acupuncture needles to piece the skin at certain nodal points, thus diverting the body’s flow of energy to block pain and to remedy certain complaints and injuries.

• Chiropractics – this is a form of massage and manipulation and it targets the musculoskeletal system through manipulating the spinal column, and kneading any damaged soft tissue

• Midwifery – This well known practice targets pregnant women, and aims to help the birthing process through natural actions such as controlled breathing and muscle response management. Midwives offer advice on the care of infants while still in the womb, throughout the birth, and after the birth.

• Herbal medicine – the use of certain plants, herbs and extracts to counteract certain illnesses and conditions. This ancient form of natural healing goes back many millennia, into the domains of so called white witches, shaman, and witch doctors.

The terms “natural healing” and “alternative medicine” are but different faces of the same coin. They cover several different manifestations of natural medicine, and some entail spiritual or religious undertones, and some are born out of more recent times to reflect modern day life and modern day ailments, not forgetting to mention mankind’s more enlightened understanding of our world and the circumstances in which we exist.

Is natural healing a new phenomena?

We have already discussed the ancient roots of natural healing and alternative medicine so we know that it is not a new occurrence. What may be considered to be new however, is our understanding and belief that we are all entitled to the very best of health and well being, and this is what we turn the powers of alternative medicine towards to achieve our goal. We often find that so called “old wives tales” such as rubbing a dandelion leaf on an insect bite, really do work, and this is because it is knowledge of the healing power of Mother Nature that has been handed down the ages. More and more discoveries are being made each and every day about the healing ingredients of certain plants and herbs, and many modern drugs use these same findings today, albeit in artificial ways.

It’s All About You

Your own health and well being is the most important thing you have. All the wealth in the world is of no use if you do not have the life and the ability to be able to enjoy it. Without your health, you are nothing. You alone know what it is that you need and what it is that you lack. By turning to the power of Mother Nature and taking advantage of the natural remedies and cures she has to offer, you can be truly fulfilled in your overall health and well being. If you combine this with a well balanced, healthy diet, a gentle but regular exercise regime, and a stress free lifestyle, you can utilize the benefits of natural well being to maximize your very existence.

Natural medicine and natural healing are not new. It is only our modern day commitment to using it to achieve our own ultimate well being that is new, and that is something that each new generation learns in turn.

James asks…

Anyone here interested in alternative medicine?

I was thinking of going into this but I’m not doing Chemistry A level :(

I think it’s a such a beauty that Allah ta’ala has blessed us with the natural world and we don’t put them to good use. There are plenty of books about alternative medicine and how we can use nature more for healing.

Do you use any natural medicine?

Kim answers:

Aww Chemistry is like the mother of science xD. I will do it next year InshaAllah. Alternative medicine as in herbs? You are right but creating medicine from normal molecules made artificially is much better since it does not reduce plant biodiversity but may in someway. Alternative medicine might have existed a long time ago and still is not totally discovered. I know there are many Alternative medicines out there which can cure anything but we are not searching enough :)

Yes i do, i use the full black pepper and crush it added into hot water makes it extremely concentrated then you drink it for stomach and throat pain. I think it cures many more things.

Mary asks…

IS there an alternative medicine way to reduce blood platelets without using chemotherapy?

I have a bone marrow disorder called ‘essential thrombocythemia’. This means I have too many blood platelets.
Prognosis is that I “over clot” causing potential heart attack and stroke. THe treatment is to use chemotherapy to reduce platelets: namely hydroxyurea, and/or angrelide, or interferon alpha. Meanwhile, I have read Dr Weils book ‘Spontaneous Healing’ and wonder if anybody in the world knows of a way to reduce platelets without resorting to these chemo meds. The chemo meds knock out your healing ability as they also reduce white blood cell and red blood cell counts (along with the platelets). Thanks!

Kim answers:

Do take the chemotherapy ! The risks you are taking if you don’t are enormous. Do not listen to ANYBODY conselling you not to take the treatment, they are lying to you and trying to take advantage of your suffering.

You can take some natural products that help you boost your immune system, like echinacea, but do consult your doctor to insure that there is no clash with the chemotherapy. You can also ask for a drug called hematopoietine (called “epo” by athletes) which can help you replenish your red blood cells.

You can also look for LEGITIMATE experimental treatments on your own and consult your doctor about it.

The 6 External Pathogens

The 6 External Pathogens:
Finding New Flows in Chinese Medicine

The idea of pathology in Chinese medicine is what determines the need for a change in energy flow. If you are looking into finding better alternatives for your health, looking at possibilities for external pathology and how it relates to your Qi is one of the places to begin. By doing this, you will have the ability to gain back your health through holistic means.

The external pathogens are one of the ways in which your energy flow can be affected. There are six general pathogens that are examined when looking at external pathogens. When these are flowing correctly, they allow the body to be balanced and have energy. However, sometimes the external pathogens can stop their flow.

The characteristics of external pathogens are named after the weather patterns in the earth. This is because all Chinese medicine takes environmental and universal laws and applies it to each individual. These are divided into wind, heat, cold, summer heat, damp and dryness. When one who is practicing Chinese medicine is able to define one of these in the body as not being aligned correctly, than they can begin to move back the Qi to normal.

The external pathogens begin with wind. When looking at the human body, this is directly linked to the lungs and the air passage ways. When the ?Wind Qi’ is off in a person, there will be coughing and often times aches in specific joints. Because there is not a steady movement of air, passageways and other areas are unable to remain clear.

If you are looking at temperature, such as heat, cold or summer heat, you can simply look at how warm or cold your body temperature is. If there is not a steady flow in specific areas, you can determine that your Qi in those areas is off. If there is severe heat in one area, such as from a temperature, than this is where the flow of energy is, significant in the relation to summer heat.

The last two external pathogens are the damp or dryness that is related to Qi. If there is dampness, you can expect that the Qi in that area is not flowing correctly. Dampness is known for blocking Qi from its proper flow. Dryness, the absence of moisture, is significant because it decreases flexibility. This is because dryness is brittle and is known for taking off bits and pieces.

These various external pathogens all can tell what parts of a person’s energy are blocked. By understanding the ?symptoms’ that are taking place externally you can begin to change the flow of energy throughout your body.

Developing a Connection

Developing a Connection:
Mind, Spirit and Body and Chinese Medicine

The idea of connectedness between the universe and the system of a human is at the basis of philosophies for Chinese medicine. If you have ever heard of the basics for any type of Oriental practice, you are also familiar with the idea of the connection between the physical, mental and spiritual ideas. If you want to learn how these can work together holistically and for your health, you don’t have to look any further than Chinese medicine.

The idea of connecting all of the elements in your body for optimum health is known as Shen. This comes from the idea that all of the elements in the universe are interconnected and related to one’s body. When taking the ideas of the elements of the universe and incorporating them into how a human is interconnected.

The first point of focus in order to connect Shen is the one that is related to waking consciousness. According to the Shen philosophy, this consciousness is in the heart. Everything that is related to heart health, under this method, is also linked with the consciousness needing to wake up.

The next part of Shen is the spirit. According to this science, the spirit is located in the liver. In Chinese, this is referred to as the Ethereal Spirit. The next Shen is the soul of the body, also known as the corporeal soul. This resides in the lungs of one’s body. Intellect, or Yi is in the spleen and Will, meaning the urge to do something is in the Kidney.

The idea of this particular system is to combine the elements of the physical with the elements of the mind and the spirit. By doing this, one is able to find the physical elements and work on two approaches to healing a person through physical and spiritual at the same time.

Combining the mind, spirit and body together is the basis of all Chinese medicine and philosophy. By learning to combine these, one is able to find the best approaches to healing a person in a holistic method. Using Shen, the concept of elements of the universe, and seeing how they relate as a system to the body, allows one to find a way to become unified within themselves.

The Points of Acupuncture

The Points of Acupuncture:
Fitting Together Holistic Health

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine that is used to help restore health. By focusing on specific points in the body, acupuncturists are able to find the way in which the body’s energy is flowing and find new ways to make sure that everything flows properly. This helps one to remain balanced and holistically healthy.

Most of us know that acupuncture will find specific points in the body and place needles in that area in order to restore or unblock energy in the body. Understanding the different points that an acupuncturist looks for will help one to understand why the different points of the body and how these link together in this form of Chinese medicine.

The first sets of points that are used in acupuncture are transporting points. There are five known transporting points that are focused on throughout the body. These will mostly be found in the legs and arms. Each of these transporting points is named after characteristics of water, and all hold the same characteristics that a water form would. For example, the sea is where the points connect energy with the body to the organs because it is a set of deeper points in the body.

From here, the points will be determined by the five elements of the earth. These are usually found at finger and toe tips in the body. For an acupuncturist, it is important that the five elements are represented and flowing with the right Qi in all of the points that they should be found. Yuan-source points are also important to examine. These are the points that will link all of the organs together. Each point represents one organ.

If you have ever seen acupuncture at work, you know that the needles will all be placed into a person’s body at different lengths. This also links directly to the points that are being examined in the body. The shallowest set of points is known as the Xi-Accumulating Cleft Points. These are wider and shallower spots that make it easy for Qi to become blocked. The upper third of the body has a special set of points that will be used. These are known as the window to sky points and are directly linked to one’s spirit and relationship from heaven to earth.

Mu-Front-Alarm Points are also examined. These are in the front of the body and are also associated with organs. Only the organs that have been diagnosed as blocked will have needles placed to help their flow. Of course, everything that is done to the front also has to be done to the back. Shu-Back Points are the points that correspond with the front diagnosis, only on the other side of the body.

Knowing the different points as an acupuncturist is one of the most important parts of understanding how to heal. By beginning this process and finding the points that need different types of Qi unblocked, one will begin to feel the difference and begin to heal.

Pointing To Your Health

Pointing To Your Health:
Finding Alternative Solutions through Meridian Systems

One of the important concepts in Chinese medicine is that every part of the body is linked to another part of the body. Together, these work as an entire system that either functions with a natural flow, or stops in its functioning because it is blocked. If you want to be sure that you are functioning in complete health, you will want to begin to examine the meridian systems.

The meridian systems are used in most Chinese medicine as points that will help to heal. They are most often used in acupuncture and massage that is practiced through professional practitioners of Chinese medicine. These particular points, when measured scientifically, are known to be like pressure points that affect other parts of the human system.

The meridian systems are divided into two categories. One of these will be on the arms and the other will be on the legs. By pressurizing these specific points, or massaging them, it will affect internal organs, physical illness, and the flow of energy. The different meridians are also divided into Yin and Yang systems, all that can be affected by positive and negative flows of energy.

The division of the different meridian systems in the arms and legs allows acupuncturists to directly link places in the body that are external with internal organs. For example, an acupuncturist who sees that you have heart trouble will find a Yin meridian on the arm that is directly linked to the heart and pressurize it in order to begin the flow of energy.

By following the Chinese meridian model, one can begin to see the relationship between the internal organs and the external structure of the body. Through the meridian systems, one can determine how the flow of energy needs to be changed and can find ways in which the body is affected through the various organs. This is one of the effective ways to use Chinese medicine for better health.
