The Art of Needles

The Art of Needles:
Acupuncture in Chinese Medicine

If you are like most, you may not see the pleasure in being treated with needles poking into your skin. However, to those in Chinese medicine, and to several who have discovered alternatives with holistic healing, this is the perfect remedy. The idea of acupuncture in Chinese medicine is important to help with healing the energy flow in someone.

Acupuncture is based off of the idea that there are certain points in the body that can help one to heal. When these points in the body receive extra pressure through a device, they will be able to assist with the healing. In the practice of Acupuncture, needles will be used as the major transports to reconnect the energy flow in the body.

The use of acupuncture begins by studying the various areas that the flows of energy are. These are known as meridians or channels in the body. The body has twelve major channels where energy will flow and cycle. The places where these channels connect are usually where energy can become blocked off. By using acupuncture, the connecting areas for the channels are examined and unblocked by pressuring the specific points.

Once one has found the connections for the acupuncture, then it is important to find the effects that all of these connections have. Each different point will have elements that are linked directly to what the body needs in order to stay balanced. These are specifically linked to the five elements that are considered to be the basis for the laws of the universe.

By finding the various channels and connections in the body, acupuncture specialists are able to find which areas of Qi are not flowing properly. This allows them to effect the way that the body flows in order to help restore and revitalize the energy levels in the body. By getting one into a better flow of their energy, they can achieve complete health.

Simple Steps For Developing A Holistic Treatment For Depression

Simple Steps For Developing A Holistic Treatment For Depression

Simple Steps For Developing A Holistic Treatment For Depression

Holistic medicine is defined as a form of therapy aimed at treating the whole person, not just the part or parts in which the symptoms occur. Finding a holistic treatment for depression involves formulating a treatment plan to rule out underlying causes, make lifestyle changes, correct any nutritional deficiencies, implementing exercise and avoid inactivity , and possibly consider a natural herbal remedy.

Depression is quite often caused by an underlying cause. This is an important first step in creating a holistic treatment plan for depression. If there is an underlying cause such as hormones, thyroid problems, or stress related adrenal problems if will greatly impact the effectiveness of any treatment whether conventional or alternative.

Smart lifestyle choices are very important in establishing a holistic treatment for depression. There are a number of lifestyle choices which have been linked to depression including smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and caffeine intake. Eliminating one or all of these can be a difficult task due to their addictive nature but keep in mind that any addictive substance changes brain chemistry and some experts believe the key to overcoming depression is in rebalancing brain neurotransmitter chemistry. If a substance or substances are standing in the way of this pursuit changes are positive long lasting results will be hard achieve.

Research shows that a deficiency in only one nutrient can change brain function in a way that it brings on bouts of depression. In establishing a holistic treatment for depression taking a daily multivitamin is a good place to start. Studies show that depressed people tend to have low levels of folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 so a B complex supplement should not be ruled out as well.

Sometimes when exercise is mentioned people just roll their eyes because they have heard it so many times. Nevertheless, exercise should be the cornerstone which your holistic depression treatment program is built upon. Numerous studies have clearly indicated that exercise has profound anti-depressive effects. These studies show that increased participation in exercise, sports, and physical activities is strongly associated with decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression. Additionally, people who establish consist exercise programs have higher self esteem, feel better, and are in general much happier than those that do not. One of the best pieces of advice anyone can give you in establishing a sustainable exercise program is to start slow and make it fun. Examples would be taking a walk in a scenic natural park, listening to music, or finding a friend to converse with while walking. If you turn exercise into something you have to do rather than something you want to do you will not stick with it.

Natural remedies for depression are not essential for establishing a holistic treatment for depression program. Nevertheless, they might be that last piece of the puzzle that helps you succeed. Perhaps the most popular natural remedies for depression are herbal blends. Herbal blends for depression often contain the popular herb St. John’s wort in combination with other herbs such as passionflower. Some studies suggest that when combined with a holistic treatment plan for depression as described above the benefits can rival those of anti-depressant medications without the side effects.

In closing, if you are suffering with depression perhaps the most important thing is not to let depression get in the way of seeking help. It is easy to put off taking action believing things will get better, they may not. Don’t let yourself fall into this depressive cycle. Take action now.

Choose Natural and Safe Treatment for Molluscum

Choose Natural and Safe Treatment for Molluscum

Choose Natural and Safe Treatment for Molluscum

Most molluscum contagiosum will clear up naturally within two years. Unlike HSV, which can remain inactive in the body for months or years before reappearing, molluscum contagiosum does not remain in the body when the growths are gone from the skin and will not reappear on their own. However, there is no permanent immunity to the virus, and it is possible to become infected again upon exposure to an infected person. As long as the skin growths are present, there is a possibility of transmitting the infection to another person. When the growths are gone, the possibility for spreading the infection is ended. There are a few treatment options that can be done at home.

Povidone-iodine surgical scrub can be gently scrubbed on the infected area for 5 minutes daily until the lesions resolve. However, the ability of iodine to penetrate intact skin is poor; without a pin prick into each molluscum lesion, this method does not work well. Do not use on broken skin. For mild cases, over-the-counter wart medicines, such as salicylic acid may or may not shorten infection duration. Daily topical application of tretinoin cream also trigger resolution. These treatments require several months for the infection to clear, and are often associated with intense inflammation and possibly discomfort.

Occasionally, doctors prescribe imiquimod and the optimum schedule for its use has yet to be established. Imiquimod is a form of immunotherapy. Immunotherapy triggers your immune system to fight the virus causing the skin growth. Imiquimod is applied three times per week, left on the skin for six to ten hours, and washed off. A cure may last from four to sixteen weeks. Small studies have indicated that it is successful about eighty percent of the time. In addition, application of duct tape over lesions until they begin to crust over and heal is well tolerated, has been effective, and can be implemented at home with readily available materials.

Tape is cut to the size of lesions and applied after washing or when previously applied tape falls off. This treatment for molluscum was motivated by success with treating warts similarly. The conclusions of a controlled study were that duct tape therapy was significantly more effective than cryotherapy for treatment of the common wart. Surgical treatments include cryosurgery, in which liquid nitrogen is used to freeze and destroy lesions, as well as scraping them off with a curette. Application of liquid nitrogen may cause burning or stinging at the treated site, which may persist for a few minutes after the treatment.

Scarring or loss of color can complicate both these treatments. With liquid nitrogen, a blister may form at the treatment site, but it will slough off in two to four weeks. Although its use is banned by the FDA in the United States in its pure, undiluted form, the topical blistering agent cantharidin can be effective. It should be noted that cryosurgery and curette scraping are not painless procedures. They may also leave scars or permanent white marks. It is important to remember that removal of the visible bumps does not cure the disease. The virus is in the skin and new bumps often appear over the course of a year until the body mounts an effective immune response to the virus.

Natural medicine for molluscum contagiosum can be said to exist with the existence of human society, which was the main therapeutic agent of human diseases before the 18th century. With the rapid development of modern medicine and chemical pharmaceutical industry in the 19th century, natural medicine gradually lost people’s attention to shrink and this situation was more serious in the western world. Modern chemical drugs for molluscum contagiosum have poor efficacy or side effects and drug resistance of some drugs become more and more serious. Under these circumstances, people begin to train their eyes to natural medicine.

The World Health Organization emphasized for the first time that traditional medicine had made a great contribution to human health and appealed its member states to attach importance to it in the Resolution 72 passed in the 29th World Health Assembly held in 1976. This undoubtedly played a role in fueling the development of natural medicine. In subsequent meetings and relevant professional meetings, it was repeatedly emphasized that we should develop and apply traditional medicine and strengthen the research of management and security of traditional medicine. Could Alternative Medicine For ADHD Be A Treatment Option Worth Considering

Certainly the biggest concern for most parents of ADHD children is finding the safest and most effective treatment method possible. One would think that once the initial diagnosis confirmed the presence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder the path would be clear cut from that point on. Sadly, this is not the case.

There are truly as many different treatment options, including alternative medicine for ADHD, as there are symptoms. The primary symptoms are inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity followed by a long list of secondary symptoms including anticipation of failure, worry, boredom, loss of motivation, frustration, low self esteem, sleep disturbances, and hopelessness. There is also the concern of overlapping conditions such as OCD, bi-polar disorder, learning disorders, and oppositional defiant disorder. As you can see the list is long, leading to the possible implementation of multiple prescription medications, all of which have potential serious side effects.

This has brought many parents of ADHD children into a new world of treatment known as alternative medicine ADHD.

Whether you are talking about conventional treatment options such as the stimulants Ritalin or Adderall or alternative medicine for ADHD experts agree that the best way to treat this complex condition is through a multimodal approach. In other words, by implementing several different treatments that complement one another you will be improving the chances for success. For one person the winning formula may include medication, diet, exercise, and behavior modification. For someone else it may include homeopathic alternative medicine for ADHD, talk therapy, and neurofeedback. Additionally, some therapies may be classified as short term or temporary fixes, while others tend to produce long lasting positive results.

All of the above treatment options have worked great for some and not so well for others. Thus, finding the right treatments and managing them takes some study, planning, organization, and perseverance. One might wonder who has the hardest job the ADHD child who has to cope with problematic symptoms on a daily basis or the parent who not only has to manage their child but investigate and make informed decisions on what type of treatment option to pursue. To make life easier, most professionals in the field of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder suggest finding a specialized medical professional to work hand in hand with you to determine and manage treatment. For instance, if alternative medicine for ADHD is your choice, then a naturopathic doctor or natural health specialist would be suggested. If diet modification is the avenue you feel will work best then a professional specializing in nutrition would be suggested.

For those struggling with ADHD finding an effective treatment option is a necessary first step. The most common method of conventional treatment are stimulants, such as Ritalin, Adderall and Cylert. While effective in the short run, all stimulant medications come with a number of serious label warnings. The risk of side effects, or perhaps lack of success with stimulants, has prompted many to investigate other options. A couple examples of this are behavior modification therapy and/or alternative medicine for ADHD. Alternative medicine for ADHD is a side effect free way to address such problematic symptoms as inattention, distractibility, impulsivity, erratic behavior and hyperactivity, and can be used both as a standalone treatment or as a compliment to other nonprescription alternatives.

Natural ADHD Alternatives – Why Widening Our Horizons Is So Important In Treating ADHD

Did you know why natural ADHD alternatives are not even considered? Simply because parents and doctors have a very unbalanced approach to the whole ADHD problem. Holistic Fibroid Treatment

Edit Article |

]]>

Holistic fibroid treatment is based around the belief that disease or conditions within the body are caused by internal imbalances and that illness simply cannot exist within a perfectly healthy body. Holistic medicine sees the body as a unified whole and the perception is that everything you take into the body (food, chemicals, attitudes and beliefs) will have some effect on it, either positive or negative.

Holistic fibroid treatment avoids the use of invasive treatments, such as surgery, and the use of hormonal drug or chemical treatment but rather aims to build a strong immune system and enhancing mental strength. In addition, it aims to rid the body of any toxins or chemicals which have accumulated in the organs as it is believed that these can contribute to fibroid growth.

Holistic practitioners believe that fibroids grow in response to a number of factors, including inadequate nutrition, excessive toxicity, inadequate exercise and stress and that it is a combination of both primary and secondary factors which are responsible. Indeed, this is not out of sync with the thinking by many conventional practitioners, but the difference is the approach in dealing with fibroids.

Conventional medicine deals with the symptoms of the condition, but this means that it does not eliminate the root cause. This means that even though the fibroids many be removed, they are very likely to regrow as the causal factors are still present.

Proponents of holistic fibroid treatment believe that once internal toxins are removed from the body and a proper diet is restored, this, along with adequate exercise and stress level techniques will help to shrink fibroids and prevent the formation of further growths.

There is much evidence to suggest that women who are prepared to take charge of their own treatment and follow a comprehensive program which includes dietary and lifestyle adjustments, stress management techniques and an exercise plan can have amazing success in managing both the symptoms of their fibroids and achieving measurable shrinkage.

If you would like to see further information on how a natural holistic fibroid treatment could be your best option, please visit How To Get Rid Of Fibroids.

Written by a former fibroid sufferer, the system you are about to see is, quite simply, groundbreaking, and I am confident that you will feel relief that you have finally found something that will genuinely help you get rid of your fibroids.

One of the outstanding features of this comprehensive system is the 3 months free one-to-one email support offered by the author.

Will Natural Treatment For Fibroids Work?

Most uterine fibroids require no treatment at all, with many women living with fibroids throughout most of their reproductive life. There are however times when fibroids become dangerous, and when removal or even a hysterectomy is the best option. For those women who fall inbetween the two, where their fibroids are not life-threatening, but they certainly cause discomfort and affect the quality of their lives, then natural treatment for fibroids is worth considering. Gail advocates using natural treatments for fibroids rather than using conventional medication or surgery as this is a workable long term solution. Conventional medication only treats the symptoms and fibroids are likely to regrow, whereas natural treatments, when used properly can eliminate the root cause by rebalancing the body and restoring overall health.

Hypnosis Treatment & Hypnosis Healing – It Can Help Those Willing and Ready to Heal

Hypnosis treatment has become more acceptable to the medical world in recent years, even in Austin, Texas. However many people still consider this form of treatment as something new age. Despite these misgivings, the number of people seeking hypnosis healing increases every year. What exactly is hypnosis? There is not an exact definition. However, experts often describe it as entering into an altered state of mind where the patient is relaxed and focused. This state of mind comes with a heightened receptivity to suggestions. However, don’t be mistaken. Hypnosis cannot make a person do something that they would not do normally. Hypnosis also cannot make an unwilling person willing. Hypnosis enhances a person’s will rather than decreases it.

How can hypnosis treatment help in treating mental problems? Many people use talk therapy to work through mental and emotional problems. However, some cannot get past certain issues using normal talk therapy. By using hypnosis healing, the psychotherapists often can get to the root of the matter quicker and more effectively than with normal talk therapy. Hypnosis helps with curbing addictions such as smoking, helps with controlling pain, and relieves stress. Despite advances in medical research, researchers still do not understand the link between the mind and the body. However, the effectiveness of hypnotherapy has shown that the mind can control the body.

Hypnosis treatment helps people going through the grief process after losing a loved one. People dealing with a diagnosis of a terminal illness often live longer when using hypnosis healing to get through the emotional problems involved. Hypnosis can help patients deal with severe pain even better than many medications can. The suggestions offered while in a trance often help the subconscious mind over common conscious and subconscious barriers. Working at the subconscious level often uncovers the deepest emotions that may be tripping up progress.

Hypnosis treatment helps you identify those deep emotions. Once you pinpoint the source of your troubles, you can work to overcome it. When something is too deep, it is often difficult to identify. Getting to the roots translates to getting below the conscious surface and digging down. When traditional therapy is not enough, your therapist may offer the option of hypnosis healing. Many therapists are integrating hypnosis healing into the regular arsenal of tools. You can also find hypnotherapy available outside the psychotherapist’s couch. You need to find someone with training in various methods of holistic healing.

Who benefits most from hypnosis healing? About 25% of the population is very difficult to hypnotize. The rest of the population show they can be hypnotized to certain degrees. The greatest indication is a person’s level of imagination and their willingness to undergo hypnosis. It is important to seek hypnosis treatment with a professional. While many experienced success using self-hypnosis techniques, you don’t want to do more harm than good. That is where professional makes all the difference. They can guide you through the process and can make adjustments as the sessions reveal issues. With prerecorded hypnosis sessions, there is a set track and you cannot make adjustments as go.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Acne Treatment – Treating Acne With Natural Medicine

Though you can’t see it happening, every minute of the day we lose about 30,000 to 40,000 dead skin cells off the surface of our skin. Acne is caused by an imbalance between oil, dead skin cells and the P-acnes bacteria. Primary considerations in treating acne are minimizing oil production and treating the bacteria, restoring homeostatic balance to the skin. Double moisturise rather than deep cleanse with harsh cosmetic formulas. Also in many cases this is part of adolesence and in most cases the skin balances out.

Fine Tuned Machines

Our bodies are fine-tuned machines, continually creating new cells and getting rid of dead cells. There are three processes vital to human health; appropriation (taking in food, air, water etc), assimilation (absorbing nutrients to create new cells) and elimination (expelling waste/toxins). If any one of these is unbalanced, this can lead to less than vital health. We need to take in the right fuel, use it effectively and get rid of by-products and waste. For example, we get rid of waste via the digestive system, the lungs and the skin; if the digestive system is sluggish waste may have to be expelled via the skin as blocked pores and acne.

There is recent research in acne pointing the finger at diet — eating refined carbohydrates and sugar leads to a surge in insulin and an insulin-like growth factor called IGF-1. This in turn leads to an excess of male hormones, which encourage the skin to excrete large amounts of sebum. This grease-like substance encourages the growth of bacteria responsible for acne. The scientists believe the modern Western diet is to blame.

Fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds in their natural state provide the body with all the nutrients and enzymes required for digestion and absorption. In cooked food many of the vitamins and minerals have been destroyed and virtually all of the enzymes, this means the body has to work even harder to digest and absorb what nutrition is left. Increasing temperature causes an exponential increase in the rate of chemical reactions. When food is heated, the rate of reactions of degradation and oxidation of nutrients increases dramatically. As a result, we consume fewer nutrients and more acne aggravating free radicals.

Nutritionists are always telling us of the value of antioxidants — they mop up free radicals. This is basically what a detox diet does; it’s full of antioxidant food to get rid of the toxins. If you put the right fuel in, you can expect dramatic results. A diet rich in antioxidant food will help reduce acne. Rosemary essential oil is a fantastic free radical scavenger.

Water

To get rid of acne, the skin needs to be hydrated from the inside to prevent blocked pores — drink plenty of water and eat plenty of water-rich foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables. This will also help speed up a sluggish digestive system.

Yeast

People with acne often have a build-up of yeast in the body and are susceptible to yeast infections, such as thrush (Candida Albicans). This can also impact the digestive system bringing on problems such as constipation. Antibiotics and a diet high in yeast and sugar will aggravate this further.

Many people with acne are prescribed antibiotics, which may help destroy the bacteria that breed inside the blocked pores, but they also destroy the healthy bacteria that help support the activity of your intestines. If your intestines are not working efficiently, there will be a build-up of toxins in the digestive system which can aggravate acne. The body also builds up a tolerance to antibiotics, meaning you need larger and larger doses to get the same effect. If you have been taking antibiotics for your acne, take a probiotic supplement every day to heal your intestines. To this add a spoonful of psyillium husks to rid the intestine of toxins.

Zinc & Selenium

Zinc supplementation is essential in the treatment of acne especially for teenage males. Selenium is an amazing antioxidant mineral and also in a clinical study was seen to dramatically reduce acne pustules with white heads. Selenium also helps to fight infections.

In order to ‘trick’ the skin into balance double moisturize, that is, use twice the amount of moisturizer you would normally use. This causes the feedback mechanism for oil production to return to normal. Using oils that mimic the skin’s natural oils (coconut and jojoba) will rebalance the oil production of your skin. These oils won’t block your pores. Try not to use toners as they will dry the skin and exacerbate the condition.

StarGate Nutrition Multivitamin

StarGate Nutrition nutrient material has been designed to be 16 times more effective, 5 times more utilised and 6 times more retained than the vast majority (99%) of nutrient material on the nutrition market. They have studied our material through independent laboratories using a number of biological studies to see its effectiveness over a number of development years. Their technology is based and confirmed by over 77 scientific papers and by a number of medical and nutrition Professors and prestigious institutions. They use 100% natural and totally allergen free.

This healing method was rediscovered by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930’s after he tired of seeing the results of allopathic medicine where patients not only recovered from the disease

Twisting Back Into Health

Twisting Back Into Health:
Yoga as a Chinese Medicine

On the Western side of the world, Yoga is considered an exercise that helps with strength, cardiovascular and weight loss. However, in ancient Chinese medicine, Yoga was also used as a practice in order to cultivate health. If you are interested in Yoga, or have begun the practice, you will begin to recognize that the health related to Yoga also provides nourishment for a better balance towards health.

The idea of Chinese medicine is to create a balance of the flow of energy that is happening in one’s body. The incorporation of this medicine doesn’t just include the balance of the body. It also includes the relationships of the mind and the spirit that relate to the body. All are considered to be intertwined. When the energy flow of one area is off, it changes the energy flow of the entire system.

The basis of this idea in Chinese medicine is also the ideal behind Yoga. This form of exercise was used as a method to help with healing and balance in one’s life, and can be considered one of the ways to use Chinese medicine. The practice of Yoga, while it can help to treat ailments, is recognized more often as a way to prevent disease and imbalance. By practicing Yoga, one can keep their health on all levels.

The way that this is done through Yoga is through the opening of the various points in the body with the practice. Every Yoga move is directly linked to various chakras, or points in the body that help with energy flow. Yoga helps to open these chakras, and to help in keeping them open. By doing this, one is able to increase their energy and begin to stay in better health. Yoga is especially known for helping with problems such as insomnia, and in the functioning of internal organs.

If you want a natural alternative to healing, Yoga as a practice can help. This particular method is known to help increase energy as well as clear blocks that may be in your system. Over time, your energy will begin to increase and flow naturally, allowing you to stay in the best of health without the unnatural twists.
